NEARLY six in 10 people living in Wales have never visited the country’s most iconic attraction, Snowdonia National Park, new research has found.
The survey also found that adults in the region aren’t making the most of some of the UK’s best attractions either, with more than 50 per cent admitting they’ve never been to the likes of Alton Towers, the Roman Baths and the Tower of London.
Taxi and private hire company, Veezu, provided the new data to coincide with the government’s new Great British Summer Savings Scheme which will see VAT reduced from 20 per cent to 5 per cent on many tickets for children and families at top attractions until September 1.
The research found that only 43 per cent of Welsh residents have been to Snowdonia, while 33 per cent said they would like to visit in future. In contrast, more people had been to Blackpool Tower (54 per cent), the London Eye (54 per cent), Alton Towers (48 per cent), the Roman Baths (44 per cent) and Windsor Castle (43 per cent).
When it comes to London, only 39 per cent have been to Buckingham Palace, 30 per cent to Big Ben and 26 per cent to London Zoo.
And even fewer have made the trip up north to visit some of Scotland’s finest destinations, with just 28 per cent having explored the stunning Edinburgh Castle and 20 per cent Loch Ness.
