
SEVERAL adults and children have suffered injuries after a miniature locomotive train derailed at Pembrey Country Park.
The incident occurred around 12:30pm this afternoon (Aug 18) when emergency services were called to the scene.
In total, six adults and eight children were injured in the accident.
Dyfed-Powys Police, The Mid and West Wales Fire Service and Welsh Ambulance Service attended the scene.
A spokesman from the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at about 12.30pm to reports that a small train had derailed at the Pembrey Country Park, Carmarthenshire.
“Three emergency ambulances, four rapid response vehicles and members of the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service attended the scene. An adult and three children were transported to Glangwili General Hospital with injuries which are not believed to be serious.
“Four further adults and nine children were treated at the scene for minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.”
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: “Dyfed-Powys Police are currently at the scene of an incident at Pembrey Country Park.
“We received a report of a miniature railway derailing at approximately 12.30pm on Thursday, August 18.
“Five people have been conveyed to hospital for check-ups but there are no serious injuries.
“Health and Safety Executive will be attending to carry out an investigation.”
