Dog walkers were often forced to avoid some of Wales’ best beaches during the summer months as beach bans were put in place at many coastal beauty spots from May 1 until September 30, meaning no dogs could go onto the sandy shores except for guide dogs.
While councils tried to enforce the bans, some used by-laws which could result in fines of up to £500 for any offenders. However, if you’re a keen autumn dog walker, many of these restrictions are lifted on October 1.
