A WOULD BE burglar thought he had covered his tracks by stealing a security camera he had been staring into.
But he didn’t realise the footage was recorded inside the property.
The camera was never seen again, but Mills was, by a jury at Swansea Crown Court.
Shane Mills could be seen searching for a key to get into a house in Bro Einon, Llanybydder.
He then spotted the camera in the front porch of the house and examined it carefully before realising he was being filmed.
Mills, aged 24, ripped away the camera, but was even filmed doing that.
Mills, of Bronllios, Blossom Hill, Pencader, claimed he had been looking for a key at the request of someone else.
And he denied that he was the person filmed taking the camera away.
But he was found guilty of attempted burglary and theft.
He was jailed for two years and an extra 20 weeks for breaching a suspended prison sentence.
The court heard he had several convictions for house burglaries.
