Award-winning PR agency welcomes new recruit despite tough graduate job market

University graduate urges young people not to give up as he secures role at leading Welsh communications firm

AN AWARD-WINNING public relations agency has welcomed a new recruit as it continues to grow following a series of high-profile client wins.

Outwrite PR, based in north Wales, has appointed Ben Kavanagh as an account executive, strengthening its team at a time when many graduates are struggling to secure employment.

The 23-year-old joins the agency from a global leader in the B2B electronics testing sector, bringing with him early career experience in marketing and communications. His appointment comes as Outwrite expands its operations after securing several significant new clients, including Welsh Government-owned Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, a Wrexham-based fintech firm, and a UK-wide solar panel maintenance company.

Mr Kavanagh graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2024 with a first-class degree in communication and media. He first encountered Outwrite PR while studying for a public relations module co-led by the agency’s managing director, Anthony Bullick.

The Wirral native said the experience had been pivotal in shaping his career ambitions.

He said: “It was a great first experience of Outwrite and Anthony, whose seminars and lectures were inspiring and gave students valuable industry insight and career advice.”

“The module motivated me to volunteer and intern at a range of organisations to gain PR and marketing experience, which proved invaluable when entering the job market.”

His appointment comes amid challenging conditions for UK graduates, with figures showing the toughest employment market since 2018 and a 35 per cent drop in graduate hiring over the past year.

Mr Kavanagh said he had seen first-hand the impact this was having on young people.

He said: “I witnessed the difficulty many graduates face when trying to secure work, and the effect that uncertainty can have on wellbeing. I’d encourage anyone in the same position not to give up and to keep persisting.”

“It was refreshing to interview with Outwrite, as they clearly value developing young talent. I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to grow my career here.”

Outwrite PR managing director Anthony Bullick said the agency was committed to supporting the next generation of communications professionals.

He said: “Ben’s willingness to learn and gain experience through placements and internships really made him stand out. It’s vital that we invest in young talent, and I’m looking forward to helping Ben progress and contribute to the team.”

Outwrite PR works with clients across the public and private sectors, including Wynne Construction, Watsons Solicitors, Flintshire County Council, and others. The agency specialises in integrated PR, crisis communications and online reputation management.
