13 homes planned at large house site in Conwy

Applicants Stewart, Andrew, Alun, and Chris Jones have applied to Conwy’s planning department, seeking permission to demolish an existing home at 34 Cadnant Park, Conwy.

A LARGE home in Conwy could be demolished before 13 properties are built in its place.

Applicants Stewart, Andrew, Alun and Chris Jones have applied to Conwy Council’s planning department, seeking permission to demolish an existing home at 34 Cadnant Park, Conwy.

The developers want to erect 13 residential dwellings, together with formation of internal access road, landscaping and other associated works.

The site comprises of a home, the curtilage area and a small woodland to the north of the site.

According to the application, neighbours have been consulted and pre-application consultation letters sent out.

The application says: “Due to the scale and nature of the proposal, all of the landscape receptors would experience adverse effects during the construction period, albeit temporary for the duration of the build.”

The planning report concludes: “Regarding the site itself, the effect is considered to be moderate(ly) adverse due to the change of use and major/moderate adverse effect due to the amount of vegetation clearance required.

“However, the landscape and planting proposals look to lessen the impact over time with compensation planting which will help to soften and breakup the scale of the development.”

The site offers panoramic views across the valley from the elevated sections of Conwy Mountain.

The lower, steeper parts are more vegetated with woodland planting, but the headland enjoys views across Conwy and on to the estuary.
