NEW affordable homes are planned for grassland in Colwyn Bay.
Applicant Bryn Bolton has applied to Conwy Council’s planning department, seeking permission for 27 affordable homes on land at Heol Dirion, Colwyn Bay.
Conwy’s planning committee are set to debate the proposals at the meeting at Coed Pella HQ, with planning officers advising the application should be granted, although there are drainage issues needing to be resolved.
The application relates to a parcel of land located immediately west off Heol Dirion, which is allocated as a contingency housing site within the adopted Conwy Local Development Plan.
The site consists of grassland with a small area of woodland in the north-western corner on steeply sloping ground. Colwyn Bay Town Council supports the plans, but Conwy has received seven objection letters from residents.
The residents have raised concerns about increased traffic, drainage, disruption caused by construction, access, and impact on rural space.
Cllr Chris Hughes has also raised concerns about drainage. The plans will be discussed at a planning committee meeting at Conwy’s Coed Pela HQ on Wednesday 12 November.
