LLANDUDNO Christian Aid Group teamed up with Cancer Research Wales to host a catwalk display of style.
The event, at Gloddaeth Chapel, was helping to mark Christian Aid’s 80th anniversary and supported the work of both organisations, raising £600 to be split between them.
Cancer Research Wales is the only charity dedicated wholly to funding cancer research in Wales, for Wales, while Christian Aid works through local partners in vulnerable communities around the world, funding emergency aid as well as longer-term development initiatives.
Llinos Roberts, Christian Aid Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer, said the show went smoothly, with clothes from the Cancer Research Wales shop, on Gloddaeth Street, modelled by members from all the chapels and churches represented by the Christian Aid Group committee.

Llinos added: “Llandudno Christian Aid Group members have been innovative over the years, holding various fun events. Back in 1957, Llandudno was one of the first towns in Wales to hold a Christian Aid Week house-to-house collection, and they have been fundraising, praying for the work of our partners and campaigning ever since.
“Over the years, more than £280,000 has been raised by the committee – a remarkable achievement and one which reflects the commitment and love of the town towards their sisters and brothers around the world.”
The group has also been celebrating organiser Jeanette Bennett-Williams, who has been presented with a long-service award, following her decision to step down.
Llinos said: “It was a privilege to be able to present Jeannette with her award at an afternoon tea in Llandudno and to wish her well on her retirement.
“Christian Aid’s work with partners would not be possible without this valued support in our communities and the volunteers who give their time to support the teamwork that makes such a difference to the lives of others.”
Jeanette, who started volunteering in 1982, said: “I was approached by our church rep to help with the house-to-house collection for Christian Aid week.
“I was impressed by the work they did and having young children at the time, I realised they would have opportunities denied by so many in the areas Christian Aid was helping.
“I became a member of the Llandudno committee and have been privileged to work with so many committed Christians from local churches and chapels over so many years. The award is a lovely reminder of that time.”
