ZIP WORLD has invested £250,000 in upgrading its Tyn-y-Coed accommodation near Betws-y-Coed, part of its continued investment across North Wales aimed at encouraging longer stays in the region.
Located in Capel Curig at the foot of Moel Siabod, the hotel is well placed for those looking to combine outdoor activity with a staycation this summer.
The rooms have been updated with a mix of practical features for walkers and visitors, alongside new design touches inspired by the Welsh landscape. From the site, guests are within a short drive of Zip World Betws-y-Coed, Llechwedd and Penrhyn Quarry sites, making it a convenient base for exploring the mountains and nearby adventure offerings.

Upgrades include new beds, flexible layouts allowing rooms to be set up as twin, king or super king and improved storage with drying racks and boot trays for outdoor gear. Artwork has also been introduced throughout the rooms and corridors, alongside fabrics made in Wales using wool from family-run mill Melin Tregwynt.
Guests will find new coffee machines, radios and larger TVs, while corridors have been fully refurbished. Two new ground floor rooms have been added, including one fully accessible room and one additional accessible space.
Over the years, the accommodation has built a strong reputation with visitors, with a 4.5-star rating across Tripadvisor, alongside an average score of 8.8 on Booking.com.

Andrew Hudson, CEO of Zip World, said: “We’re really pleased with the final result at Tyn-y-Coed and are looking forward to welcoming both new and returning guests.
“Having already invested in the restaurant, pub and ground floors last year, this latest refurbishment has been about continuing to improve the overall experience for visitors staying with us in North Wales.
“We’ve focused on creating spaces that work for both relaxation and practicality, particularly for those using Tyn-y-Coed as a base to explore the outdoors.”
Tyn-y-Coed is also well known locally for its food offering and regular events and continues to attract returning visitors and local residents.
The refurbishment forms part of Zip World’s ongoing investment in its North Wales offering.
