Ruthin chapel could be transformed into new cafe

Mr and Mrs H. Howatson have applied to Denbighshire County Council, seeking to change the use of part of the Old Chapel on Rhos Street to a café.

A RUTHIN chapel could be converted into a new café.

Mr and Mrs H. Howatson have applied to Denbighshire County Council, seeking permission to change the use of part of the Old Chapel on Rhos Street into a café.

The proposed development would see the former vestry area transformed into a café, with a counter and tables on the ground floor and additional tables on the first floor.

If granted planning permission, the WC is to be upgraded to make it fully accessible.

There would also be some minor external alterations, including opening up some windows previously bricked up and the introduction of a door on the side of the building to provide access for wheelchairs and prams.

The building has previously been used as storage for 12 vans overnight for the Post Office.

Planning officers are advising the committee grant the application.

The planning application will be discussed at a planning committee meeting at Denbighshire’s Ruthin County Hall HQ on Wednesday, October 9.
