Sam Rowlands MS pleased to see plans for a new country park in North Wales

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed news that a new country park is to be created in Denbighshire.

Mr Rowlands, Chair of the Cross Party Group on Tourism in the Senedd and a keen supporter of attracting more visitors to North Wales is delighted to hear about the venture on woodland and parkland next to Bodelwyddan Castle.

He said: “I am really pleased to hear that Denbighshire County Council has given planning permission for a new country park in my region and look forward to seeing the plans come into fruition.

“It will be great to see this historic area of parkland being renovated and re-opened to the public once again and adding to the many tourist attractions we have in the area.

“I am delighted that the project has received £900,000 from the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund which is a major part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.

“It is fantastic to see another project in North Wales benefitting from the fund.”

Preparations are now underway to create a new country park on an historic Denbighshire parkland next to Bodelwyddan Castle.

The historic park area will undergo renovation work to reopen the mixture of park lands, woods and orchards to the public once again.

A redeveloped 73 space car park alongside the construction of new paths will take place to support repeat visits to the site by local residents and visitors alongside the introduction of increased biodiversity on the land through wildflower meadows.

The main project work is set to begin on site this summer.

“This project will give local residents and visitors a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, enjoying quality facilities, the natural environment, the history and far reaching views across the landscape surrounding the grounds.”
