YOUNG PEOPLE from across North East Wales are being invited to take part in an exciting event designed to give them a direct voice in local decision making.
The Youth Hustings, organised by Clwyd Scouts, will take place at Rhyl Little Theatre on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 1pm to 4pm. The event is open to anyone aged 14 to 25 living in Denbighshire, Flintshire, Montgomeryshire and Wrexham.

The free event will bring together local elected representatives and candidates to answer questions directly from young people and discuss the issues that matter most to them. From education and employment to transport, opportunities for young people and the future of local communities, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their views and take part in meaningful conversations with decision makers.
The event is being organised by Clwyd Scouts Area Youth Lead, Aimee Curtis, who is passionate about ensuring young people have opportunities to engage with civic life and influence decisions that affect their futures.
Aimee Curtis said: “The Youth Hustings is all about creating real opportunities for young people to speak directly to the people making decisions in their communities. We want this event to feel open, welcoming and empowering.

“Young people often feel that their voices are not heard, but events like this show that their opinions matter and that they can play an important role in shaping their communities.
It is also a chance for young people to learn more about the opportunities available to them locally, including through Scouting and other organisations, and to discover how they can get involved in local decision making.
“Whether you are passionate about local issues or simply curious about how things work, we would encourage you to come along and take part.”
The Youth Hustings are designed to be engaging and interactive. Alongside the panel discussion with elected representatives, there will be a variety of guest speakers, creative and adventurous activities running throughout the afternoon, giving young people the opportunity to take part, build confidence and meet others from across the region.
The event will also highlight the wide range of opportunities available to young people through organisations such as Clwyd Scouts, which provides young people with opportunities to develop confidence, leadership skills and active citizenship through adventure and community engagement.
Importantly, you do not need to be a member of Scouts to attend. The event is open to all young people aged 14 to 25 who live in the region and want to learn more about how they can get involved in their communities.
The Youth Hustings is free to attend thanks to funding from the Welsh Government, helping ensure that as many young people as possible have the opportunity to participate.
Clwyd Scouts hope the event will encourage young people to take an active interest in their communities, develop the confidence to speak up and learn how they can influence the future of the places where they live.
Young people who would like to attend are encouraged to book their free space in advance.
Places can be booked online by clicking here.

Elected members and candidates from across the region who would like to take part in the panel discussion are also invited to get in touch by emailing [email protected].
