NORTH WALES charity the Neuro Therapy Centre is partnering with health, leisure and community organisations across the North Wales region to provide people with long-term neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, MS and FND with opportunities to take part in accessible activities in their own communities.
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, The Access to Movement and Wellbeing project aims to raise awareness of the need for physical and wellbeing activities in local areas across North Wales, and work with leisure services, the health board, local community groups and a number of charities to provide these services.
Two of the current activities are weekly Neuro Dance sessions being held in Llandudno until March 24, and monthly creative sessions being held in Llangefni until April. The Neuro Dance sessions are funded by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Fund and Community and Voluntary Support Conwy. They take place at St Michael and All Angels Church. To book for the Neuro Dance sessions, contact [email protected].

The craft sessions include creating clay figures, wet felting, and printmaking, and are based at Oriel Môn in Llangefni. Further details of these craft sessions and booking details for these can be found on the Neuro Therapy Centre website.
These new sessions are being offered in addition to the services available through the Neuro Therapy Centre which supports people living with neurological conditions and their carers with exercise, physiotherapy and talking services both at the Centre in Flintshire and online.

Ruth Austen-Vincent, Project Manager for the Access to Movement and Wellbeing programme, said: “This new initiative brings organisations and individuals together to overcome the accessibility and transport challenges often faced by people living with long-term neurological conditions.
“Bringing movement, social activities and a sense of community to people across the North Wales region is essential for everyone’s wellbeing.
“Participants in the project have already given very positive feedback, speaking about the life-changing benefits they’ve gained from taking part, boosting their confidence, and expanding their social lives.”
