Sam Rowlands MS meets pupils at Deeside 6th Form Centre

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales has been giving sixth formers an insight into his role.

Mr Rowlands, Shadow Health Minister, recently took part in a question and answer session with students studying A Level politics at Deeside 6th Form Centre.

He said: “I really enjoyed my time with the students. They asked me a lot of challenging and insightful questions about local and national issues including the NHS, education, tax and foreign policy.

“They were all studying politics so it was great to see them so enthusiastic for their subject and keen to know about the workings of the Welsh Parliament.

“It is always good to have the opportunity to meet with young people and hear what they have to say as they are the politicians of the future.”

The Deeside Sixth Form Centre was established in 2016 and provides facilities and a broader curriculum of choice for post 16 learners in Flintshire.

It was jointly developed by Coleg Cambria, local schools and Flintshire County Council and apart from offering general teaching classrooms and social and private study spaces it also has  specialist performing arts, music, science and creative arts facilities.
