Sam Rowlands MS praises new school campus in Flintshire

Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales with Dave Linderman, Project Manager, Christian Stanbury CEO WEPCo, Richard Collett, Headteacher, Ysgol Mynydd Isa and, Paul Smith, Headteacher, Ysgol Uwchradd Argoed

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, recently visited the new multi-million-pound school campus in Mynydd Isa.

The new facility brings children through their entire education journey, starting from nursery right up to high school.

Mr Rowlands said: “I was delighted to be shown around this impressive new campus which sets a new standard for sustainable education in the county.

“It was great to be able to meet some of the people who actually worked on the project and see how it was delivered.

“I was very impressed with all the facilities I was shown and praise must go to the developers who have created this amazing campus.”

Built on the site of existing Argoed High School in the village of Mynydd Isa, Mold, the new two-storey campus hosts 43 nursery-age children, 600 primary pupils and 700 high school students, and is a shining example of sustainability in the education sector.

The Primary School and High School will remain as separate schools but will operate within a single building with shared facilities.

The campus, delivered by Robertson Construction North-West on behalf of the Welsh Education Partnership Company, WEPco, has been designed to generate as much energy as it consumes. With 1,080 solar panels installed across 2,500 square metres of rooftop space.

The outdoor facilities have been designed with the different needs of nursery, primary and high school pupils in mind. There are flexible external play spaces, sports areas, and a flood lit all-weather grass pitch, allowing youngsters to exercise and learn in high-quality outdoor environments.

The school itself is a two-storey building with separate wings for primary and secondary schools, with a shared main entrance area and kitchen.
