TOWYN could soon be getting a new smokehouse-style restaurant.
Mr Endaf Kerfoots of Kerfoots’ Caravan Park has applied to Conwy County Council’s planning committee seeking permission for a change of use for BJ’s Café and the adjoining buildings.
The buildings known as Nant Clwyd House on Towyn Road were previously used as a gift shop and a pet supplies store.
Mr Endaf says the buildings will be fully renovated and converted as part of the plans. There would be parking spaces at the rear.
In the application, Mr Endaf says the café will remain. “The existing cafe is to occupy the same area while the restaurant is to occupy the area of the former pet store and gift shop,” he says.

“The kitchen will be adapted to serve both establishments. A new refurbished seating area is to be created at the front of the business, overhauling the currently run-down frontage.
“Proposals include new hard-standings and temporary furnishings.”
The application concludes: “Currently the site is occupied by two non-operational businesses and the existing BJ’s Cafe.
“Our understanding is that there are two apartments associated with the main two-storey building, one to the rear and one situated above the pet store and gift shop, which will be unaffected by the proposed works.”
The plans will create six full-time and six part-time jobs, equivalent to eight full-time roles.
The application will be debated at a future Conwy County Council planning committee meeting at Bodlondeb.
