SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is warning his constituents about a national scam.
Mr Rowlands is backing a warning from North Wales Police who are calling on the public to be mindful of courier fraud.
He said: “I am always happy to promote any warning of fraud taking place as there are some despicable people out there who will do anything to scam the public.
“Unfortunately these fraudsters pray on the good nature of most people and can sound extremely plausible when talking on the telephone.
“Police advice is to always check if you are not sure whether you are receiving a scam call and contact them immediately.”
North Wales Police Cyber Crime Team is now warning people about calls they may receive from their bank arranging to call and collect their bankcard which is called courier fraud. Their advice is to hang up immediately and contact the police.
Remember that your bank will never call you and ask you to withdraw cash to help secure your account either. If you are ever unsure, call 159 to speak to your bank directly.
Police are urging people to take a few minutes to make sure that your family and friends are aware that this is a common scam so that they aren’t caught out.
