Jessica-Louise takes on 60-mile challenge in honour of ‘Taidi’
A YOUNG woman from Anglesey has taken on a 60-mile walking challenge in memory of her grandfather, raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance.
Jessica-Louise Dixon, 21, is participating in the Charity’s annual Walk Wales fundraiser to honour her grandfather, Eifion Rofft, who sadly passed away in November. As part of her efforts, Jessica-Louise completed the ‘Snowdon by Sunrise’ hike alongside her boyfriend, Luca Woodcock.
The Walk Wales event is a virtual fundraiser, allowing participants to walk, jog or run a chosen distance while raising money for the lifesaving service. Over the past five years, the event has raised more than £119,000 for Wales Air Ambulance.
Jessica-Louise, who works as a retail assistant, said: “I did the Snowdon by sunrise walk for the Wales Air Ambulance to show my support. I did it in memory of my Taidi, who sadly passed away in November, and the air ambulance came out to him. I believe not enough is done to support this service, so I wanted to do my part.”
She has set herself a goal of completing 60 miles during June and is already well on her way, having raised £266 of her £300 fundraising target.

“I’ve received loads of support from my friends and family, which I’m really grateful for,” she added.
The Wales Air Ambulance provides consultant-led emergency care, delivering hospital-level treatment at the scene and transferring patients to the most appropriate hospital if needed. Operating as a partnership between the public and third sectors, the service relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required each year to stay operational.
Its crews include NHS consultants and critical care practitioners from the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS), who can administer anaesthesia, perform blood transfusions and carry out minor surgical procedures on site.
Elaine Orr, Regional Fundraising Manager for Wales Air Ambulance, said: “Well done to Jessica-Louise and her boyfriend Luca for completing the Snowdon to Sunrise hike. We’re extremely grateful to her for raising funds in memory of her Taidi, and we send our heartfelt condolences to the family.
“Good luck to Jessica-Louise with the rest of the month-long challenge. She’s already raised a wonderful £266 and we hope her family and friends continue to support her in reaching her goal.
“Fundraisers like this help us to keep our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road for the people of Wales when they need us the most.”
