SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is backing residents who are fed up at the state of an underpass in Wrexham city centre.
Mr Rowlands has written to Wrexham County Borough Council expressing his concern over the state of the underpass at Powell Road.
He said: “I am very concerned at the state of this well used underpass in the centre of Wrexham. Apart from being covered in graffiti, the lighting is insufficient and when I visited the site there was broken glass on the ground.

“I have spoken to several residents who are very angry at the state of the underpass and many do not feel safe using this route. I have been in touch with the council who have said they carry out routine maintenance but this is clearly not enough.
“As Chair of the Senedd’s Cross-Party Group on Tourism and a great supporter of promoting Wrexham as a visitor destination I am very disappointed to see this underpass, which is one of the main thoroughfares into the city, covered in graffiti. It is a real eyesore and needs to be cleaned up.

“Many of the people I spoke to also said they were also concerned about using the underpass because of the poor lighting and felt it was not safe to use.”
