SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is supporting the Summer Reading Challenge to encourage more children to read in Wrexham.
Mr Rowlands, who is always keen to promote the written word said: “As a parent of three young girls I am always keen to support any moves which will persuade our youngsters to pick up a book.
“I am delighted to see this annual challenge running once again this Summer and would urge parents to encourage their children to take part.
“It is great for children to have something to keep them occupied during the long Summer holidays especially with our inclement weather which often keeps us indoors and I would urge anyone interested in taking part in the challenge to contact their local library.”
The Summer Reading Challenge takes place in libraries every year during the Summer holidays and this year’s theme is sports and games.
All children aged 4-11 can visit their local library, sign up and select six books of their choice and once the challenge is completed will receive a certificate, with rewards along the way.
There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part! You can also keep track of your reading by visiting www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk where you can find new books to read, take part in competitions and mini challenges, and play games.
