Share your thoughts on Wrexham’s cultural future

WREXHAM Community and Culture Trust is leading on the development of a bold, inclusive and visionary 10-Year Cultural Strategy for Wrexham County Borough and is inviting everyone in Wrexham to share their thoughts through a survey.

This strategy will play a critical role in shaping Wrexham’s future as a vibrant cultural hub, grounded in local identity and ambition, and informed by the values embedded in the Wrecsam2029 UK City of Culture bid.

The Trust is looking to hear from as many people as possible across Wrexham and invite everyone to complete an online survey. Thoughts shared in that survey will help shape the 10-year Strategy.

Amanda Evans, Culture Bid Director for Wrecsam2029, said: “Developing a 10-year Cultural Strategy is a vital moment for Wrexham.

“It’s about taking the values, ambition and learning from Wrecsam2029 and turning them into a long-term vision that genuinely reflects the people who live, work and create here.

“Culture in Wrexham is rich, diverse and deeply rooted in everyday life, and this strategy must be shaped by the voices of the whole community.

“I’d encourage everyone to take the time to share their experiences, ideas and hopes as we shape Wrexham’s cultural future together.“

The Trust are keen to hear from everyone including but not limited to residents, people working or studying in Wrexham, young, old, community group leaders, artists, makers, organisers, sports group leaders, local businesses – and everyone in between.

The Strategy has been commissioned by WCCT and is being developed by a partnership between Deryncoch Cyf and The Audience Agency and including input from collaboration sessions led by Dirty Protest.

They’re not just talking about theatres, museums, galleries and gig venues (though these matter too)… They’re talking about the ways the community has fun, live their lives, and ultimately, how collectively they celebrate the ‘spirit of Wrexham’.

Culture is the places people love to eat, the way they spend time with friends and family, the sports they play and watch, the stories they tell, the things they make and imagine, the places they turn to for peace, connection or inspiration, moments and spaces that they celebrate. And much more.

The Trust know there is already great work being done in Wrexham to improve people’s lives through culture. By understanding this better, they can build on successes, learn from what’s already been tried and find the best ways to nurture what matters most.

The Trust are inviting everyone living or working in Wrexham County Borough to take part in this exciting project, by sharing what everyone wants to see happen in your county over the next 10 years.

Please help the Trust by taking 10 minutes to complete the survey which can be found here

As a thank you, all respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win a hamper valued at £100.

In addition to the survey, the Trust will be running engagement sessions and 1-2-1 interviews with specific individuals and special interest groups (cultural providers, local businesses, sports clubs and so on) to help them get a more in depth understanding of the ways this strategy could support them.

While the Trust has the best intentions, they know reaching everyone will be a challenge!
