25th vehicle leaves Senedd for Ukraine

TODAY (18th July), Alun Davies MS, Mick Antoniw MS and a team of volunteers, including Wayne Thomas, Vice-President of the National Union of Mineworkers will leave for Ukraine in a convoy 5 vehicles packed with medical and other aid.

This will be the 9th journey the team have undertaken as part of the ‘Senedd 4 Ukraine’ initiative, which has delivered a total of 25 4X4 vehicles and over £1million in aid directly to the frontline in Ukraine.

The team were given a send-off by Members of Senedd in Cardiff Bay, before commencing their 2000 mile journey.

Mick Antoniw, Member of Senedd for Pontypridd said: “As we have seen from numerous news reports, Putin’s illegal war continues to target civilians, including schools and children’s hospitals. It means that our support for Ukraine is needed more than ever.

“Putin must be stopped and by supplying aid directly to frontline Ukrainian troops, the Senedd 4 Ukraine initiative is making a difference.

“I want to thank everybody, including individuals, trades unions and businesses who have donated so generously to our fundraising campaigns; and to those who have donated medical supplies and vehicles.

“I receive regular reports from soldiers in Ukraine telling me how important supplies, such as food, medicines and clothing are and to ask me to pass on their thanks to the people of Wales for their generosity. The reports sometimes also include photos of donated vehicles in action as field ambulances.

“Every bit of help we can give makes a difference.”
