Residents, staff and families enjoy cakes, games and a touch of magic while supporting local cancer charity
RESIDENTS, staff and visitors at Awel y Môr Care Home came together on March 20 for a lively Fun Day, raising an impressive £488.16 for the Morgan’s Army Charitable Foundation.
The event was packed with laughter and community spirit, with a range of activities designed to bring enjoyment to everyone involved. Guests tucked into a tempting selection of homemade cakes, tried their luck on the ever-popular tombola, and took part in a “spin the wheel” game offering a variety of prizes.

A highlight of the day was a special performance by a magician, who delighted residents and staff with a series of entertaining tricks, adding an extra touch of excitement to the celebrations.
The care home said it was thrilled with the turnout and the generosity shown throughout the day. All funds raised will go directly to Morgan’s Army, supporting the charity’s work helping children and families affected by cancer.
Home manager Rachael Woolley said: “We are delighted as a home to raise much needed funds for a local charity that is close to our hearts. Our families, staff and residents had a fantastic day and to raise over £400 that will benefit families in need is very heart warming.”
Natalie Ridler, founder of Morgan’s Army, added: “We are delighted the fun day at Awel y Môr was such a success and everyone had a lovely time. The amount raised is incredible and will help us continue our work supporting families across South Wales.
“Fundraisers like this are so important to us as a small charity, we are so grateful.”
Awel y Môr Care Home has extended its thanks to everyone who contributed, donated and helped make the day such a success.
