A NEW chief executive officer has been appointed by Bridgend County Borough Council after the planned resignation of the former CEO Mark Shephard was announced in December 2024.
The post will now be taken up by Jake Morgan who is currently employed as the deputy chief executive and corporate director of community services at Carmarthenshire County Council.
Originally from Gloucestershire he was said to have moved to live and work in Wales 20 years ago and has 30 years of “extensive experience” working within local government.
Speaking after his appointment at a council meeting held on April 2 Mr Morgan said: “This is an exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to working alongside the staff and elected members of Bridgend County Borough Council to deliver positive outcomes for local residents.”
Council leader John Spanswick added: “With his impressive track record and varied experience of working within numerous senior local government roles Jake is ideally placed to provide strategic leadership alongside elected members as we continue to deliver essential services for local people.”

He will join Bridgend County Borough Council in July.
