Bridgend County Borough ranked in top four local authorities in Wales for recycling

BRIDGEND County Borough has been ranked as one of the top four best performing local authorities in Wales for recycling.

With a recycling rate of 71% during 2024-25, Bridgend County Borough has recycled 38,000 tonnes of waste including nearly 8,000 tonnes of food waste, with over 10,000 tonnes of waste processed at the three community recycling centres in Pyle, Brynmenyn and Maesteg.

Cabinet Member for Climate Change and the Environment, Councillor Gary Haines said: “Over the last several years we have consistently met the Welsh Government’s 70% recycling target, once again being ranked as one of the best performing local authorities named in Wales.

“This is a fantastic achievement and reflects our ongoing commitment to improving the recycling process across the county borough, which is already well above the current Welsh average of 68.4%.

“Thank you to our residents for their continued support in their efforts to reduce their waste and to our waste and recycling collection crews, operatives and staff working hard behind the scenes to raise public awareness throughout the community.”

The council’s waste and recycling partner Plan B Management Solutions has recently launched a £10,000 Community Fund to support community and voluntary organisations across the county borough, more information can be found on Bridgend County Borough’s website.
