Volunteers wanted to help the ‘Christmas Kitchen’ ensure that people can enjoy the festive season

VOLUNTEERS led by Councillor Jane Gebbie, deputy leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, will be taking part in the Christmas Kitchen for the third year running – an event which supports vulnerable people in Bridgend County Borough by ensuring they do not miss out on being able to celebrate the festive season.

Working out of the Talbot Community Centre in Kenfig Hill, a small army of volunteers will prepare, cook and deliver a full Christmas dinner along with gifts, presents and other treats to more than a thousand local people who come from all kinds of backgrounds and who are suffering under the cost of living crisis.

They include impoverished children and young people, families struggling to make ends meet, elderly residents, people living alone, refugees whose homes have become a warzone, and more.

The Christmas Kitchen relies on the goodwill of volunteers and donations from businesses and local people of food, produce, gifts or money. The charity event continues to grow larger every year, and expectations are high for Christmas 2025.

The Christmas Kitchen is a very worthwhile local cause, and any publicity or news coverage that might support their efforts would be welcomed.
