A BY-ELECTION is expected to be held in Caerphilly County Borough in August to elect a new councillor.
The election follows the death of Aberbargoed and Bargoed ward councillor Dianne Price, who passed away in April having represented the area for 20 years.
Cllr Price had been described as a “dedicated public servant”.
Nominations for candidates are currently open, with a closing date of 4pm on Friday July 19.
Caerphilly County Borough Council said the expected date of the by-election is Thursday August 15.
Anyone wishing to stand as a candidate must submit their nomination papers to the returning officer at Electoral Services, Bargoed House, 1 St Gwladys Way, Bargoed CF81 8AB.
The office is open on weekdays between 10am and 4pm, and must be submitted by 4pm on Friday July 19.
Alternatively, nomination papers can be submitted via email to [email protected] before the same deadline.

Applications to vote by emergency proxy at the by-election, on the grounds of disability or for work or service reasons, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Bargoed House, 1 St Gwladys Way, Bargoed CF81 8AB by 5pm on August 15.
The disability must have occurred after 5pm on August 7, 2024.
To apply on the grounds of work or service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on August 7, 2024.
