A MAN has been fined after admitting breaching a domestic violence protection order put in place to protect a victim.
Richard Davies, aged 70, of Cornelly Street, Llandaff North, Cardiff, appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 23.
The court heard that Davies breached a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) on Sunday December 22 by attending the address he had been prohibited from visiting.
The order had been imposed by Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on November 27 following police concerns, and was designed to prevent further contact and protect the victim from harm.
Davies admitted to the breach.
Magistrates fined him £100 and made a collection order, allowing the penalty to be paid at a rate of £20 per month starting on January 20.
Domestic Violence Protection Orders can be imposed by police and courts where there is an immediate risk of harm, even where no criminal charge has yet been brought. Breaching such an order is a criminal offence.
