First 140 homes completed at Bellway’s Longwood Grange development in Lisvane

More than half of the homes now built as new community takes shape on Cardiff’s northern edge

WORK has been completed on the first 144 homes at Bellway’s Longwood Grange development in Lisvane, marking a major milestone in the creation of a new residential community on the northern outskirts of Cardiff.

The development, located on a 26-acre site off Maerdy Lane, will eventually deliver 270 homes as part of the wider Churchlands neighbourhood, a 1,000-home scheme being built between Lisvane and Pontprennau.

All 144 completed properties are now occupied, with a further 14 homes currently under construction already reserved. Bellway began work on the site in 2021 and expects the full development to be completed by summer 2027.

When finished, Longwood Grange will include 216 homes for private sale and 54 affordable properties, helping to meet housing demand in one of Cardiff’s most sought-after residential areas.

Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, Rhian Reid, said the development was progressing well and already developing a strong sense of community.

“Work is progressing very well at Longwood Grange under the direction of our award-winning site manager Paul Oakley,” she said.

“It is exciting to see the neighbourhood growing and the community developing as people move in and enjoy settling into their homes and getting to know each other.

“We are providing high-quality, energy-efficient properties and the development is meeting the need for good homes in this popular part of Cardiff.”

She added that the location had proven particularly attractive to buyers due to its proximity to schools, green spaces and transport links.

“It’s a desirable location within the catchment area of popular schools, with countryside and Lisvane Reservoir nearby, while the city centre and the M4 are also within easy reach.

“The varied mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, including three-storey properties, is attracting buyers with a wide range of requirements and budgets.”

Construction at the site is overseen by site manager Paul Oakley, who was named Regional Winner for Wales in the Large Builder category of the National House Building Council’s Pride in the Job awards last year.

The 54 affordable homes at Longwood Grange include 12 properties available through the First Homes Cardiff scheme, offering buyers a 70 per cent discount on market value.

A selection of three, four and five-bedroom homes is currently available, with prices starting from £354,995.
