Drug dealer offered customer a “free fat one” after cocaine complaint

A DRUG dealer who ran a supply line from his home in Cardiff offered a disgruntled customer a free deal after they complained about the quality of cocaine he had sold.

Cameron Cummings, aged 28, was arrested after police executed a warrant at his home in Stafford Road, Grangetown, on Thursday (Jan 2).

Officers discovered a quantity of drugs and items associated with dealing.

Drugs and cash seized

During the search, police recovered around 30g of cocaine valued at more than £1,000 and more than 1kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of over £5,000. Officers also found £3,635 in cash.

Other items seized included cannabis cuttings, weighing scales, snap bags, several mobile phones and an extendable baton, which is classed as an offensive weapon.

Messages revealed drugs line

Analysis of the mobile phones revealed that Cummings had been running a drugs line.

One exchange showed a customer complaining about the cocaine they had purchased, describing it as “bashed” – slang used when drugs have been diluted or mixed with other substances.

In the messages, Cummings admitted cutting the cocaine with creatine. The buyer replied that the drug was “burning”, prompting Cummings to offer a “free fat one” next time.

Other conversations referred to drug quantities using slang terms including “T-shirt” and “leg”. Messages also suggested Cummings was directing others involved in the operation.

In one exchange he wrote: “Hop on thing and do a few bits.” References were also made to using encrypted apps to avoid police detection.

Court hearing

When interviewed by officers, Cummings claimed he purchased drugs in bulk because both he and his family were heavy users.

Prosecutor Sol Hartley told the court that explanation was “farcical”.

Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court heard on Wednesday that Cummings had no previous convictions.

His barrister, Elin Morgan, said her client had built up a drug debt which led him to begin dealing. She also told the court he has a young child whom he saw every day before he was remanded into custody.

Cummings admitted possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession with intent to supply class B drugs, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Recorder David Harris sentenced him to a total of three years in prison.
