Merthyr Tydfil Council Easter services and opening hours announced

THE ARRANGEMENTS for council services in Merthyr Tydfil over the Easter weekend this year have been revealed.

Refuse and recycling collections between Friday, April 3, and Friday, April 10 will remain as normal but here will be no bulky collections throughout the bank holiday period with these collections starting again on Tuesday, April 7.

Sharps and dialysis collections will be made on Thursday, April 2, over the bank holiday period.

Household recycling centres (HRCs) will be operating with normal working hours with Dowlais being open from 10am to 6pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, closed on Tuesdays, open from 11am to 7pm on Wednesdays, and open from 9am to 5pm at weekends.

Aberfan is open from 10am to 6pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, closed on Wednesdays, open from 11am to 7pm on Thursdays, and open from 9am to 5pm at weekends.

The lease of life reuse shop at Unit 20, Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park, Pentrebach, will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6.

The telephone number for emergencies relating to drains serving Merthyr Valley Homes properties during the holiday period is 01685 385231.

Sewerage problems relating to all other properties should be directed to Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water on 08000 853968.

In terms of social services for emergencies people should contact the emergency duty team on 01443 743665.

The council’s cemetery office opening hours are 8.30pm to 4pm on Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 2.

It will then be closed from Friday, April 3, to Monday, April 6, and be open from 8.30pm to 4pm on Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8.

Merthyr Tydfil Council cemeteries are open for pedestrian access 24 hours a day.

Summer opening and closing times for vehicle access covering April 1 to September 30 see Cefn Cemetery and Pant Cemetery open from 8am to 8pm, Beechgrove Cemetery open from 8am to 9pm, and Aberfan Cemetery and Graigfargoed Cemetery open 24 hours.

Burials will take place on Tuesday, April 7, for internment applications received on Monday, March 30.

For applications received on Tuesday, March 31, burials will take place on Wednesday, April 8.

For those received on Wednesday, April 1, burials will take place on Thursday, April 9.

And for those applications received on Thursday, April 2, burials will take place on Friday, April 10.

The service is closed from Friday, April ,3 to Monday, April 6.

Applications received on Tuesday, April 7, will see burials on Monday, April 13. For applications received on Wednesday, April 8, burials will be on Tuesday, April 14, while for those received on Thursday, April 9, burials will be on Wednesday, April 15, and for those received on Friday, April 10, burials will be on Thursday, April 16.
