Three men jailed for 75 years after brutal kidnap and stabbing

THREE men have been sentenced to a combined total of 75 years in prison after a man was kidnapped, stabbed nine times, and held to ransom in Merthyr Tydfil.

The court heard that just after 10:00pm on Monday, February 10, 2025, a 28-year-old man arrived at hospital with multiple stab wounds. Officers later established that he had been abducted, blindfolded, and subjected to a sustained and violent attack.

Lured to meeting

The victim had gone with his girlfriend to a retail park to meet Luke Williams, who had invited him. There, Williams and Tyshane Brown forced him into another vehicle, where he was blindfolded, restrained, and assaulted.

During the ordeal, a ransom call was made from inside the car to the victim’s girlfriend, demanding £5,000. She could hear him shouting that he was being stabbed and that his attackers had knives and a gun.

Violent pursuit

As he was driven around Merthyr, the victim was repeatedly assaulted. His girlfriend raised the alarm with his father, who rallied three friends in a desperate rescue attempt. A jacket was rolled up to imitate the ransom money and left at the retail park, but when the group confronted the kidnappers, chaos ensued.

The victim’s father smashed a car window in an attempt to free his son, but the vehicle sped away. He gave chase and rammed the kidnappers’ car, during which the victim was stabbed again, suffering a severe hamstring wound. He was later confirmed to have sustained nine stab wounds, including a deep abdominal injury and internal bleeding.

Arrests and sentencing

Police later recovered the abandoned car with significant bloodstains inside. A medical examination showed the victim had injuries to his face, abdomen, back, groin, and thigh.

Williams and Brown remained on the run until February 27, when officers arrested them at a caravan park in Kidderminster. A balaclava, knife, and clothing matching CCTV footage from a BP petrol station in Herefordshire were found inside.

All three men were convicted of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, kidnap, blackmail, possession of a firearm, and possession of a bladed article.
