A WOMEN’S clothing store is set to bring a disused listed building on Chepstow High Street back to life.

The grade II star listed building at 7 High Street is thought to date back to the 17th or even 16th century though its has been altered extensively and in the early 20th century housed a watch and clock maker’s business.

An application for a fascia sign above the door and vinyl lettering in the windows has been made by Zoe Rayment who intends opening her Styled By Zoe business in the shop.

On its website the business states it intends opening in Chepstow in April selling women’s clothing and accessories as well as costume jewellery and footwear alongside a range of home and giftware.

The application states: “The window signage will be white text and the fascia sign will be mounted on wood and hand painted. The colour and styling will be sympathetic to the surroundings and conservation area.”

Ms Rayment has also said in her application, which is being considered by Monmouthshire County Council’s planning department, she will place a bird box and bee house at the back of the property “to encourage them back to the immediate area”.
