Labour councillor sparks outrage with offensive social media outburst

Chepstow councillor accused of making incest remark in response to dog-walking post

A WELSH Labour councillor is facing mounting criticism after appearing to make a deeply inappropriate comment about local residents on a public Facebook page.

The comment, which has been widely shared online, was posted from the account of Cllr Nicholas Meyrick, who represents the St Kingsmark ward on Chepstow Town Council.

It followed a post made by a concerned resident on a local community group. The woman had written about seeing two teenage girls walking a sausage dog in school uniform during last week’s 32°C heatwave. She urged parents to educate children on the dangers of exercising dogs in extreme temperatures.

Cllr Meyrick responded with a strongly-worded message defending the dog owners—before launching into a bizarre rant against those he called “gospel social posters”.

He wrote: “What is it with you gospel social posters? I bet you’re all shagging your sister’s brother as you point your fingers.”

The message went on to suggest that the woman should tattoo the word “Karen” on her forehead—spelled backwards—so she could read it in the mirror.

His post read in part: “I would recommend you get a life. What is good for you and yours is cool; what is good for me is none of your business.”

Attempts to contact Cllr Meyrick and Chepstow Town Council for comment have so far received no response.

The Kennel Club advises that walking dogs in extreme heat can be dangerous, particularly for certain breeds or older animals. It recommends early morning or evening walks to reduce the risk of heatstroke.

No official action has been announced in response to the councillor’s remarks at the time of publication.
