A NEW bus stop is likely to be created on the edge of Caerwent, councillors have been told.
At present there is no dedicated place for the Number 75 Bus to stop close to Rock Cottages which is at the end of Sandy Lane, that runs from Caldicot, to the junction with Church Road on the outskirts of Caerwent.
But Monmouthshire County Council’s transport officer Christian Schmidt told its Severnside Area Committee a solution can be found.
He said at present buses would have to stop in the middle of the road “or passengers would have to get off on the grass verge.”
Mr Schmidt said the land however belongs to the council and said: “We need to take off some of the grass verge and need to get highways colleagues to do it. The land is ours so it should be doable.”
