APPROVAL has been granted by Neath Port Talbot Council for the creation of a new industrial building on land near Port Talbot Docks.

The proposals submitted by PTB Properties Ltd could see the site on North Bank Road developed and turned into a new facility that holds four self-contained industrial units.

Plans say once completed two of these units would eventually operate as an MOT test centre for vans and cars while the other three would be leased out for general industrial use or storage.

It will be built on land at North Bank Road just off Harbour Way and the A4241 close to a number of other industrial properties as well as a café.

The land has previously been used to keep lorries though it is now described as being vacant and overgrown with vegetation.

The completed building will measure in at around 34m in length and 7.1m in total height.

The application read: “The building is a steel-framed construction profiled with metal cladding and a pitched roof.

“The external materials proposed consist of steel profiled cladding with the colours to be confirmed or conditioned as part of any planning approval.”

The plans for the new building were approved by council officers as part of their delegated decisions made between April 14 and June 23, 2025, before going to councillors at a meeting on July 1.
