TWO roads in Neath Port Talbot are set to be temporarily closed in order for the council to carry out tree cutting and maintenance works.

A public notice says the two roads located near the centre of Neath will be closed on March 29, 2026 with expectations that the work will take one day to complete.

The notice says St David’s Street, Neath will be closed from the junction of Gnoll Park Road in a westerly direction for 155m along its length.

It also says Water Street will be closed in its entirety during this time, though noted that traffic signs will be put in place to inform the public the roads are closed.

The area is located close to the town’s well known Victoria Gardens and bus station as well as Neath Leisure Centre.

Additionally, while the order is in force, the weight restriction order on Eastland Road will be suspended from its junction with Cimla Road in a southerly direction for a distance of 365m along its length.

The notice says: “The alternative route for vehicular traffic travelling north and south along B4434 Gnoll Park Road will be via B4434 Gnoll Park Road, around the Gyratory (at the junction Prince of Wales Drive) and back down B4434 Gnoll Park Road, Eastland Road, Stockhomes to Windsor Road, Windsor Road and Alfred Street.”
