CHANGES to the senior officer structure at a Valleys council would save more than £360,000, the authority says.
Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT)’s cabinet has agreed to proposals to restructure the senior management team in a move it says is to respond to future challenges and to ensure that the council operates in the most efficient and effective way.
The aims of the changes are to ensure the council “has the right leadership capacity in the right places, aligning services in a way that supports both efficiency and resilience, to improve service delivery for the residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf.”
The council says that the proposals will save £365,000 as part of its medium term financial plan.
Following agreement by cabinet on Monday, September 22, further reports will now be considered by full council and the appointments committee to confirm the proposals.
Councillor Andrew Morgan OBE, leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said that the changes proposed are not just about delivering further reductions in senior management costs, but they also look to ensure that the council as an organisation continues to evolve and operate in the most efficient way.
He said it will also position the council well to meet the future challenges that lie ahead while maintaining strong leadership and a corporate core which he said is hugely important in the delivery of public services.
Paul Mee, RCT Council’s chief executive, said the changes are designed to ensure the management structure remains fit for purpose in responding to current and future challenges and that they are part of the council’s ongoing commitment to “strong, efficient, and value-driven” leadership at the highest levels of the organisation.
He said that the changes ensure that the council has the right leadership capacity in the right places, reducing unnecessary duplication and “aligning services in a way that supports both efficiency and resilience.”
