A YOUNG rider from Pontyclun, Efa Moore fought off strong competition to win a national championship at the prestigious Your Horse Live Show held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
Efa and her beautiful grey pony, Thistledown Alice shone under the bright lights in the main SEIB Arena at Your Horse Live on November 8 to win the SEIB Insurance Brokers Search for a Star Ridden Championship.
Over 70 riders, handlers and their horses and ponies qualified for the twelve Search for a Star Championship classes held on the Friday of Your Horse Live before the section winners went forward to the Supreme Championship on the Saturday morning. The championships were judged throughout by Mathew Lawrence and Chris Hunnable, with Katie Jerram-Hunnable ringside.
Efa competed against adult section winners in the final before taking the SEIB Search for a Star Ridden title. Efa’s favourite parts of the day were: “Winning my purple sash and riding Thistledown Alice in the big arena!”
Efa’s mum and Thistledown Alice’s owner, Laura Moore said: “We didn’t expect this win! We came along to the Search for a Star qualifier to give it a go and we’re all delighted!
“Efa has only been riding for a year, we will do more next year and see how it goes.”
This pair won the Search for a Star Pony Club Lead Rein final before going forward to Saturday’s supreme championship.
Efa and Thistledown Alice are members of the Pentyrch Pony Club.
