Man arrested after Nazi flag flown in Ton Pentre street

Police have launched an investigation after a Nazi flag was discovered hanging from power lines above a street in a Welsh town.

South Wales Police received a report about the flag on Bailey Street in Ton Pentre, Rhondda Cynon Taf, just before 7am on Friday, 14 March. Officers promptly contacted the relevant utility company to arrange for its immediate removal. The flag, which appeared to be hanging from an electricity cable near St John’s The Baptist Church, was swiftly taken down after authorities were alerted.

A police spokesperson confirmed that an inquiry is now underway, and a local man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

In a statement, South Wales Police said: “We can confirm a 52-year-old local man has been arrested for racially aggravated public disorder and is in police custody. We received a call about the flag just before 7am today and can confirm it has now been removed.”

Local residents have expressed their outrage over the incident. One described it as “absolutely sickening in this day and age,” while another labelled it “disgusting.”

The police spokesperson urged anyone with information to come forward, stating: “Anybody who has information is urged to contact 101 and provide reference 2500080974. Or they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Investigators are now working to determine how the flag was placed and whether any further offences have been committed.
