A SECONDARY school that was removed from special measures after seven years has been congratulated by a council leader.
Cwmbran High School had been subject to enhanced monitoring by school inspectors Estyn since it was placed in the category of most serious concern in 2018.
It was removed from the category in April following Estyn’s most recent follow up visit.
At Torfaen Borough Council’s June 10 meeting Councillor Anthony Hunt congratulated the school on its “sustained and sustainable improvements”.
The Labour leader said: “I’d like to thank all the staff of the school for their hard work, governors and officers here it’s been a long and difficult journey and I’m pleased to see the sustained and sustainable improvements made at the school.”
