A BODY has been washed ashore just north of Barmouth this morning (Aug 12) near the location where two teenagers went missing on Sunday (Aug 7).
North Wales Police has not yet identified the body and has no released any further information about the discovery.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said on Twitter: “The body of a male has been washed ashore north of #Barmouth this morning. ID is yet to take place. No further info at this time.”
The boys have been named as Waseem Al-Muflehi and Yahye Mohamed from Birmingham.
Holyhead Coastguard received a 999 call reporting that people were in difficulty in the water off Barmouth beach on Sunday afternoon and immediately launched a search of the area involving Barmouth and Aberdovey RNLI lifeboats, Coastguard rescue teams from Barmouth, Aberdovey and Fairbourne and the Coastguard rescue helicopter from Caernarfon.
Welsh ambulance service Helimed and North Wales Police also attended.
The search was “terminated, pending further information” on Tuesday (Aug 9).
