Local cooling products a hit in the middle east

Screen Shot 2016-01-29 at 12.22.24A LOCAL manufacturer is reporting sales success for its products with demand growing in the Middle East as temperatures soar.

Pembrokeshire-based FRIO UK invented the world’s first patented insulin cooling wallet. Using evaporative technology, the pocket-sized wallets contain crystals which transform into cooling gel when activated by water, keeping insulin and other temperature sensitive medicines cool. Chris Wolsey, Managing Director of FRIO UK which exports to 70 countries told The Herald: “We are experiencing excellent sales growth with a presence in 20 countries throughout the Middle East and Gulf States in particular, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.

“With temperatures in the Middle East exceeding 45ºC and in parts over 50ºC in 2015, our cooling products enable people to travel out and about without being tied to refrigeration. We are very excited to be exhibiting our products at the Arab Health Exhibition in Dubai as part of the Welsh Government delegation.”

The company has built a worldwide market for its products since first developing technology to keep Team GB athletes cool at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Building on its success in the region, FRIO UK will be exhibiting at a major healthcare show in Dubai as part of a Welsh Government delegation next month. FRIO will be demonstrating its products at the Arab Health Exhibition in Dubai, the largest healthcare show in the Middle East, and the second largest in the World.

The show takes place at Dubai’s International Convention & Exhibition Centre on 25–28 January 2016.
