CONCERNS have been raised as two potentially harmful plants have been found at Pembrey Country Park.
Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed have been spotted by visitors and a warning has now been issued for families to watch out for the plants, especially if visiting with young children.
Hogweed contains a sap which can cause extreme irritation to the skin if touched and is easily spotted due to its height, reaching 3-5m, with small white flowers.
It can cause bad blistering and swelling, which is then made worse by exposure to sunlight.
Meryl Gravell, a leisure executive board member councillor, said: “Both knotweed and hogweed are present in Pembrey Country Park. These areas are being added to the county council’s contract for treating it.”
