AS the world celebrates Volunteers Week, Home-Start Cymru proudly honours the unwavering dedication and commitment of our remarkable volunteers who have played a pivotal role in transforming the lives of families across Wales for over 40 years.
This year, as we reflect on this milestone, we want to take a moment to extend our deepest gratitude to the exceptional individuals who have been the backbone of our organisation. In Carmarthenshire, 4 extraordinary volunteers have secured our Long Service Platinum Certificates for dedicating over 15 years of their time and effort to support our cause, positively impacting countless families and leaving an indelible mark on our community.
Home Start Cymru’s volunteers have been the driving force behind our mission to empower, build resilience, and ensure that children from families across Wales receive the best start in life. From providing personalised one to one support directly within the homes of families, to offering a wide range of services that cater to their diverse needs, our volunteers have consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our cause.
In Carmarthenshire, there were 4 volunteers secured platinum recognition for their 15 years plus of volunteering for us.
One of those volunteers was Barbara Voyle who has volunteered across Carmarthenshire for 19 years. She said “Firstly, it’s a privilege to be welcomed into families’ lives. Hopefully, over time, with just a couple of hours a week spent with them, we can make a difference in both the children’s lives and their parents’ lives too. Also, in my own life, I have learned so much from different families’ circumstances. I’m sure other volunteers will agree with me that helping this generation of children will hopefully continue into the next generation. How rewarding is this? Such an honour and indeed a privilege.”

Lynne Howells, National Volunteer Manager, shared, “Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Home-Start Cymru. Their dedication and compassion have made a lasting difference in the lives of countless families. We are incredibly proud and grateful for their unwavering commitment, At Home-Start Cymru, we believe that volunteering is not only a rewarding experience for individuals but also an essential pillar of support for local communities. By taking up volunteering, individuals have the opportunity to make meaningful connections, contribute positively to the lives of others, and inspire lasting change to families in their local areas. Volunteering is a channel through which individuals can actively participate in building a more compassionate and resilient society.”
