Fun-filled day for Fathers at local care home

RESIDENTS at Plas y Dderwen Care Home in Johnstown, Carmarthen, enjoyed a Tie and Pie Afternoon in celebration of Father’s Day on June 16.

Staff and residents enjoyed coming together, all wearing ties to add a touch of glamour to the occasion. Each male resident received a gift from the home in celebration of Father’s Day.

With the lovely warm atmosphere, residents were able to enjoy meeting up with loved ones in the home’s communal areas, with some live entertainment from Carmarthen Ukulele’s to add to the occasion. After the entertainment, everyone enjoyed refreshments, which included delicious apple pies, drizzled with cream.

Lisa Peart, Activities Co-Ordinator of the home, said, “We’ve all had a wonderful day today welcoming friends and family into the home. Occasions like Father’s Day are so important, it was fantastic to have such a lovely gathering with our residents and their loved ones all together enjoying the entertainment.”

Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
