THE FESTIVE season is officially underway at Barchester’s Plas Y Dderwen Care Home in Johnstown, Carmarthen, where staff and residents have come together to create a magical Christmas wonderland. The halls have been decked with boughs of holly, twinkling lights, and festive decorations, setting the stage for a series of heart-warming celebrations.
The team at Plas Y Dderwen has worked tirelessly to prepare a dazzling village display that is sure to bring joy to residents, their families, and staff alike. From the glimmer of fairy lights to the sparkling tinsel, every corner of the care home is bursting with holiday cheer.
Sharon Herbert, Senior General Manager, shared her excitement: “Christmas is such a special time for us all, and we truly enjoy transforming the home and creating this display for our residents.
“We love seeing their faces light up as they enjoy the decorations and the festive atmosphere. It’s a tradition we hold dear, and every year, the display gets bigger and better—just like the smiles it brings to all of us.“
For Colin Ward, a resident at Plas Y Dderwen, the display evokes fond memories of childhood Christmases.
Colin said: “The village display is absolutely brilliant! It takes me right back to when I was a child. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The more you look, the more you see—it’s just magical.
“The team here are fantastic, and I can’t get enough of the Christmas lights. If it were up to me, we’d keep them up all year!“
