CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council has issued a statutory notice to expand access to early years education at Laugharne Church in Wales primary school by changing the age range from 4 -11 to 3 -11 years.
If approved, the changes would allow children from three years of age to access part-time, funded nursery education in the area to meet demand for part-time nursery education and wraparound childcare. This would also allow the school to offer a minimum of 10 hours per week of non-statutory, part-time early years education to help address any gaps in provision and ensure fairer access to early years education across the county.
The consultation closes on December 22, 2025 and forms part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to modernise education provision across Carmarthenshire.
