Llanelli fire crews tackle major blaze on Sandy Road

FIRE crews in Llanelli responded to a serious blaze on Tuesday afternoon (Nov 4) after a garage and outbuilding of a domestic property on Sandy Road caught fire.

Multiple fire stations, along with police and ambulance services, were called to the scene as thick smoke was seen rising from the property. Fortunately, the two occupants of the house managed to escape unharmed before crews arrived.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was confined to the ground floor structures of the property. Crews utilised four breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, one main jet, four thermal imaging cameras, and one triple-extension ladder to extinguish the fire.”

Firefighters remained at the scene for around two hours to ensure the blaze was fully contained and extinguished. Their swift response, combined with the occupants’ quick escape, prevented any injuries during what was described as a “dramatic and intense” incident.
