STAFF and residents at Barchester’s Plas-Y-Dderwen care home, in Johnstown, Carmarthen, celebrated Easter with a fundraising event on Saturday April 12, with all proceeds going to the Barchester Charitable Foundation, which is a registered charity that helps older people and adults with a disability across England, Scotland, Wales and Jersey.
Residents, family, friends and staff at Plas-Y-Dderwen came together to celebrate, while the fantastic Jimmy Elvis wowed them with his classic tunes, smooth dance moves, and personal serenades for the residents – adding a special touch to the afternoon. They also had a special visit from Carmarthenshire Party Ponies and Therapy Pets who came along with Toby the Pony and Thunder the giant bunny, who made heart-warming room-to-room visits, spreading smiles and Easter cheer throughout the communities of Plas-Y-Dderwen.
Senior General Manager, Sharon Herbert shared: “As always, we’ve all been looking forward to our Easter Celebrations- it’s such a joyful time of year.
“The residents absolutely love the colourful decorations and the chance to celebrate with family, friends, and our dedicated staff. Today has been egg-cellent, filled with music, dancing, and a successful cake sale in support of the Barchester Foundation.
“Seeing the smiles on our residents’ faces and knowing we’ve raised money for a great cause makes all the hard work that goes into organising these events truly worthwhile.”
Miriam Biddle, resident at Plas-Y-Dderwen said: “It has been so lovely to spend time with my daughter and the jam and cream scones were delicious! It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort. I really enjoyed Elvis and all of his moves!”
